Sometimes referred to as the ‘nanny ‘dog Staffie puppies have a very sweet disposition and is one of AKC’s top recommendations for a family pet.
The Staffordshire Bull Terrier, also called the Staffy or Stafford, is a purebred dog of small to medium size in the terrier group that originated in the northern parts of Birmingham and in the back country of Staffordshire, for which it is named. They descended from 19th-century bull terriers that were developed by crossing bulldogs with diferent Terrier breeds and was recognized as a purebredvby The Kennel Club of Great Britain in 1935. Shortly before the American Cival War immigrants brought the Staffordshire to their bull terrier crossbreeds which became the basis for the American Staffordshire, Miniature Bull Terrier, Boston Terrier and the American Pit Bull Terrier
Staffies are a bold confident breed and are very intelligent so very easy to train. They are the smallest of the bully breeds with average height of 14-16 inches at the shoulder and 2443 lbs for females and 29-37 lbs for males. They come in a variety of colors including White, Black, Blue, Fawn, or Red all with or without White and any variety of Brindle with or without white. Their average lifespan is over 12 years.
